Spanish or Castilian as it is also called, is a Western Romance language that originated in the Castile region of Spain and today gets spoken by more than 437 million people in the Americas and Spain. It qualifies as second on the list of biggest languages by number of native speakers after Mandarin Chinese. Nowadays five languages are spoken in Spain: Galician- Portuguese, Spanish (Castilian), Basque, Catalan and Occitan (aranès). Spanish (Castilian): It is the official language in all over the country. English is the second most-spoken language in Spain. A study says that 27.7% of the Spanish people also talk English.
Mexican Spanish (Spanish: español mexicano) is a set of varieties of the Spanish language, spoken in Mexico and in some parts of the United States and Canada. Spanish was brought to Mexico in the 16th century.

What is the largest Spanish speaking city in the world?
Mexico City, Mexico. According to data from 2005, Greater Mexico City (the entire metropolitan area, including a large number of closely situated smaller settlements) has a population of approximately 22,681,726 people. This makes the capital of Mexico the largest Spanish-speaking city in the world.

Spanish is considered one of the easiest languages for a native English speaker to learn. The grammar and sentence structure are different from English, but simpler. Because both languages have Latin roots, they also share thousands of cognates – words that sound the same and have the same meanings.

Spain, a country on Europe’s Iberian Peninsula, includes 17 autonomous regions with diverse geography and cultures. Capital city Madrid is home to the Royal Palace and Prado museum, housing works by European masters. Segovia has a medieval castle (the Alcázar) and an intact Roman aqueduct. Catalonia’s capital, Barcelona, is defined by Antoni Gaudí’s whimsical modernist landmarks like the Sagrada Família church.
